A Few

As the days are growing shorter, the weather cooler, and horses getting fuzzier, I find myself thinking more and more about the little things in life. I stop and watch the gorgeous sunsets of the season. The one below was last weekend while I was farmsitting. How lovely it is to just stand and watch the watercolors melt together and slowly fade, almost deliciously.

Also, tis the season for fabulous dark beers! I cant’t get enough of stouts and porters, with their caramel and chocolate undertones. A brewery near my parents is serving a gingerbread stout! Why yes, I think I will;)

Aside

Geaux

Mom is in town this week for a horse show, and you know what that means; good eats! We try to go to dinner every night, and this Saturday we tried a real life Louisiana Cajun place called Papa Mojo’s. Website is papamojosroadhouse.com, check out the menu. I have to say, even Mom agreed the gumbo was pretty good for the Tarheel State.

The location is deceiving. Tucked away in the back corner of a strip mall, you are subject to bypass it.

The gumbo here had a great color, the darkest I’ve seen here in North Carolina. I’ve been so disappointed ordering gumbo in this state, so I was skeptical. It delivered!

They even had Louisiana beer! I tried to get a pic of a vintage New Orleans Dixie Brewing Co. sign, but failed. All in all, I am definitely going back!
