The barn where I keep my retired TB has a bit of everything!
I opened my door this morning, and what a surprise to see this gorgeous sunrise! Not sure if the extreme cold has something to do with it, but I can manage the cold if I can wake up every day to this sight!
Sadly, the sunrise was gone by the time I walked up to the barn. How can something so beautiful only last a few minutes? I guess it is meant to be seen by those who notice.
As I was feeding, my most dramatic chicken Lindsay Lohan was making a scene in a window. Not sure what all the fuss was about, but hence her name IS Lindsay Lohan…….
My Dixie Chickens are all Rhode Island Reds, therefore all named after famous redheads. There is of course Lindsay Lohan who is the smallest and most dramatic, my biggest is Winona Judd, then there are Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and Bernadette Peters. Yes, I named all my chickens……doesn’t everyone:)
This Autumn has been amazing for colors! I don’t remember it being so pretty before, and I am not sure of the reason. Is it the wet summer we had, or the late indian summer weather? The pictures I have taken don’t seem to do the colors justice.
One last dandelion stands alone in the pasture.
Even my Dixie Chicks are enjoying the warm autumn days.
The pasture is mainly lined with big pine trees, but a few flaming colors stand out. At dusk, everything seems to bask in a golden glow. I wish this season would never end! The long, dark days of winter are ahead and I am so not looking forward to them.
Oh, Fall! Traditionally I am not a fan of cold weather, but making my farm rounds this morning was perhaps the prettiest Fall mornings I have ever seen. Everything was glistening with frost, and silent.
Even my Dixie Chicks were somewhat stunned, pausing in the barn aisle before heading outside.
Every blade was coated, crunching as I let horses out into the main pasture.
What a sight! Happy weekend y’all!
