Where the Road Ends

The Man and I found this place, fishing after work one dusky evening. It is a huge man made lake, and the former road disappears into it. We didn’t catch anything, but the view was amazing:)

A Little Peace and Quiet

As the days are growing shorter and colder, I have had a hard time finding inspiration! A hike with my two favorite gals last weekend was just what I needed. Beignet, Roo and I headed over to the New Hope Overlook trail around Jordan Lake. It is one of my favorites, and not many people seem to go on it. I didn’t realize that the New Hope Overlook had any historical value until I stopped at the trailhead sign. It was settled by the Scottish Highlanders in the 1700’s and saw action in both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Archaeologists have explored the remains of over 450 prehistoric and historic sites, as well as many Native American artifacts. Cool, huh? As for me and my dogs, well we just liked the scenery and quiet.
